The countdown begins for the Caerphilly Armed Forces Day event
Posted on : 21 Jun 2022
The countdown is on for a special Armed Forces Day celebration which is set to be held in Caerphilly on Friday 24
th
June, giving residents the opportunity to show their support for those brave men and women who make up our Armed Forces community.
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s celebratory event will be held at the Cenotaph in Caerphilly, near Coffi Vista at 10.30am. We will also be taking the opportunity to formally present the scroll for the Freedom of the County Borough that has been bestowed on the Royal British Legion.
The Mayor of Caerphilly County Borough Council, Cllr Liz Aldworth said, “We are huge supporters of the Armed Forces in Caerphilly and to be able to once again host this ceremony in the community is very special to us. I am delighted to be able to formally present the scroll for the Freedom of Caerphilly County Borough to the Royal British Legion following the formal ceremony in full council earlier this year.”
Cllr Teresa Heron, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Armed Forces Champion added, “I am delighted that the annual flag raising ceremony will return this year, providing an excellent opportunity for residents to show their support and give thanks to the Armed Forces community. I urge residents to come along to show your support!”
