Welsh Government Education Minister visits Markham Primary School
Posted on : 16 Jun 2023
Jeremy Miles MS, Minister for Education and the Welsh Language in the Welsh Government, has visited Markham Primary School to congratulate the school on the outcome of their recent inspection report and to celebrate their use of the Welsh Language.
During the visit the Minister attended the school’s Welsh Celebration Assembly, awarding children from each year group with a Siaradwr Cymraeg yr Wythnos certificate, for their efforts with using the Welsh language for the previous week.
Jeremy Miles MS also took part in an interview conducted by year six pupils for the school’s radio station, before having a one-to one with the school’s Headteacher, Mrs Lindsey Prichard.
Lindsey Prichard, Headteacher of Markham Primary commented: “We were delighted to welcome the Welsh Government Minister for Education to Markham Primary School. It was an amazing opportunity for us to demonstrate and celebrate all the work, that we as a school, are doing towards our new curriculum and within our community as well as to develop and improve our Welsh language skills.”
Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles, said: “Diolch yn fawr to Markham Primary School for the warm welcome. I was pleased to see the fantastic work the school are doing to support the Welsh language and I enjoyed being interviewed by pupils for Radio Markham.”
Cllr Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member for Education added: “It was lovely to be part of the Welsh Government Minister for Education’s visit to Markham Primary School and to celebrate the school’s ongoing contribution to the Welsh language. A big congratulations to Markham Primary School and this week’s Siaradwr Cymraeg yr Wythnos.”
