Improvements planned for Trinant square
Posted on : 12 May 2023
Caerphilly County Borough Council has unveiled plans to carry out improvements to the square in Trinant, as part of its Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS) environmental improvements programme.
The plans include renovation of the areas around the trees at the front of the square, removing cobbles, and the installation of new benches, railings, bins, cycle rack and lighting columns. A reduction of the curved steps and replacement with stone, with the installation of brushed steel handrails are also planned.
Work is scheduled to start around 15th May, depending on weather, and is expected to be completed in late summer. There will be some disruption during the works, but the Council assures residents that it will do its utmost to keep this to a minimum. Access to shops, Trinant Community Centre and Flying Start will be maintained throughout.
Cllr Shayne Cook, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, said “The WHQS programme saw over £260million invested into Council owned homes and communities throughout the county borough. Whilst the main programme has been completed, we are still delivering environmental projects that were identified as priorities by local communities during previous consultation.
“The works planned for Trinant will improve the appearance and accessibility of the square area, benefiting residents and local businesses.”
