Caerphilly CBC signs Armed Forces Covenant

Caerphilly County Borough Council signed the Armed Forces Covenant on Thursday 2nd November solidifying its commitment to the armed forces community.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from the nation that those who serve or have served in the armed forces are treated fairly. The Covenant is a voluntary pledge to support the welfare, employment and education of the armed forces community and their families.

Caerphilly County Borough Council joins more than 10,000 organisations across a range of sectors including education, charity, hospitality, retail and financial services that have committed themselves to providing fair treatment for veterans, serving personnel and their families.

CCBC and eight local organisations including; Educ8 Training, Vibrant Property Partner, Vetro Recruitment, QDL Contractors Ltd, Grassroots Suicide Prevention, Coleg y Cymoedd, Blackwood Town Council and Gelligaer Community Council were joined by the 203 Field Squadron to mark the signing.

Cllr Theresa Heron, the Council’s Armed Forces Community Covenant Champion, said “We’re incredibly proud to have signed the Armed Forces Covenant. We recognise the important role that armed forces personnel play in our society and are committed to supporting them and their families.

It gives our clear commitment to ensuring members of the armed forces community do not face discrimination and helps to build our reputation as a forces-friendly employer.”
