Council support Emergency Services Day

Caerphilly County Borough Council is supporting Emergency Services Day on 9 September to pay tribute to the millions of people who work and volunteer across the NHS and emergency services.

Emergency Services Day promotes the work of the emergency services, promotes using the emergency services responsibly, educates the public about basic lifesaving skills, and promotes the many career and volunteering opportunities available.

Volunteers are an essential part of the emergency services family and they play a core part in keeping Britain safe. 999 volunteer roles include; Special Constables, Retained Firefighters, NHS Community Responders, St John Ambulance, RNLI, Search and Rescue, and Coastguard volunteers.

Cllr Philippa Marsden, Leader of council said
“CCBC is proud to support Emergency Services Day as we show our appreciation for the NHS and all our emergency services!

“Over the last year and a half, we have seen our emergency services take even greater risks to help protect our people and communities. They have shown incredible strength, resilience and bravery, and we want to take this moment to show our gratitude and say thank you for all that they have done, and continue to do, to keep us healthy and safe. ”

“I would encourage everyone to pause for a thought at 9am this Thursday 9 September and to show their appreciation in any way they can.”

“We will be sharing our messages of thanks throughout the day on our Twitter and Facebook pages so please join in and show your appreciation for all those who deserve to be recognised this Emergency Services Day. ”
