Easter holidays sport and activity camps return to Caerphilly

Between 15th – 26th April, Easter half-term sport and activity camps will return across Caerphilly County Borough, offering children a variety of opportunities to develop their skills while having fun.

Delivered by the Sport and Leisure Services, there is a packed schedule of activities on offer with more variety of sport and activities than ever before!

The Easter Sport Scheme delivered by both the Sport Caerphilly and the Leisure Lifestyle teams is an exciting initiative that is available to children aged 7 – 12 at Caerphilly, Newbridge, Risca and Heolddu Leisure Centres. The scheme offers various sport activities throughout each day in an effort to give children the opportunity to try new sports. With a variety of engaging activities, your child is guaranteed to have a great time! The price for each session is £8.30 a day or £5.20 at Heolddu with full details available on the Sport Caerphilly website.

The well-established football camps will also return to the Centre for Sporting Excellence on the 16th, 17th, 18th, 23rd, 25th and 26th of April – offering children the opportunity to further develop their footballing ability from expert coaches in an enjoyable atmosphere. Camps cost £10.20 per day and can be booked by contacting the Centre for Sporting Excellence on 01443 864767 or for more information email lewisd10@caerphilly.gov.uk.

Caerphilly Adventures activity camps are also resuming this Easter half-term. With a new format, each day will allow children to experience various outdoors adventure activities ranging from biking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding, adventure walking and bush craft development – in an effort to maximise your child’s experience. Children aged 7 – 12 can experience all of this for just £20 a session per day at Cwmcarn Forest Drive. Sessions can be booked by ringing Caerphilly Adventures on 01495 271234.

Sport Caerphilly, through their disability in sport coordinator, are also running multisport/ outdoor activity sessions based out of Pontllanfraith and St Cenydd Lesiure Centres. Sessions combine outdoor activities with multisport elements – in an effort to offer something for everyone.

These sessions cost £10.20 per day and can be booked by contacting Paul Taylor on 01495 235497 or via email: taylop1@caerphilly.gov.uk

Alongside our curated half-term camps, a full programme of activities will run out of Leisure Centre’s. Some of the highlights of this programme include the popular ‘Free Swim Friday’ sessions that allow anyone with a valid Smart Card to swim for free during designated times. Other altercations to the usual pool timetables have been made to allow for additional public swimming sessions that allow children and adults to remain active during the Easter break. These changes can be found on the Leisure Lifestyle website.

The popular ‘Mermaid and Shark’ sessions at Newbridge Leisure Centre will also return during the Easter break. These sessions allow children to experience life as a sea creature through specialist tail suits. Children must be 7 years of age and be able to swim at least 2 lengths with each session costing £4.50 per child.

Another highlight includes the Gymnastics camps that will run out of Risca Leisure Centre for children over the age of 5 for £10 a day.

These sessions can be booked by contacting the relevant Leisure Centre.
