Local food banks need your support

Local food banks are urgently seeking the support of residents to ensure they have sufficient supplies of food to support those in need in Caerphilly County Borough.

This follows unprecedented demand being placed on the service due to the continued rise in the cost of living.

Thinking of donating to your local food bank, but not sure what to donate?

UHT milk, tinned vegetables, long-life juice, and tinned fruit are just some of the essential items food banks often need.

Here are 10 essential items you can donate to your local food bank!

  1. Cereal
  2. Instant noodles
  3. Long life juice or squash
  4. Pasta sauce
  5. Puddings – including rice pudding, angel delight and jelly.
  6. Tea / coffee
  7. Tinned fruit
  8. Tinned meat – that can be eaten hot or cold.
  9. Tinned vegetables
  10. UHT milk

In addition to food products, food banks also try to provide other essential non-food items to those most in need. This includes:

  • Baby supplies
  • Cleaning items – detergent, washing up liquid, etc,
  • Toiletries and sanitary products

Cllr Carol Andrews, Cabinet Member, said “Food banks across the county borough are seeing a significant demand on their service as more residents turn to food banks for support.

All donations, no matter how small, are welcome and will make a positive impact for those in need at this difficult time.”
