CCBC board game gets the blue light
Young people in Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Youth Forum Project Group have launched a board game to help raise awareness of emergency services.
 
Working with representatives from the emergency services, the Youth Forum Project have created a board game, Siren, which aims to educate young people on what to do in an emergency and raise awareness of emergency services phone numbers such as 101 and the 999-text service in a fun and informative way.
 
The game will be distributed to primary schools, comprehensive schools and youth clubs, projects and groups throughout the borough.
 
Emergency services including the NHS, Fire Service, Gwent Police and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution are all represented in the board game.
 
Leader of the Council, Councillor Sean Morgan said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new board game, Siren. We believe this game will help to raise awareness of all the fantastic work that our emergency services do, whilst also informing young people of what to do in an emergency, which could one day prove invaluable.
 
“I would like to thank our Youth Forum Project Group for all the work they have put into creating Siren, and all the emergency services who have worked in partnership with CCBC.”
 
Police and Crime Commissioner for Gwent, Jeff Cuthbert said: “I was extremely pleased to attend the launch of the game. The game is a very clever tool that will be used to educate children and young people about the different roles our emergency services play.
 
“I was pleased to see the young people engaged in the game, it has a wide range of questions about our emergency services that would also would also make some adults stop and think.
 
“Working in partnership is so important I would like to thank everyone who has helped to bring the game to life.”
