Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Rate Relief 2022/23

The Welsh Government has issued details of a new temporary business rate relief scheme under which retail, leisure and hospitality properties will benefit from April 2022.

The 2022/23 scheme offers a discount of 50% on non-domestic rate bills for eligible occupied properties but the relief is subject to a £110,000 cap on the amount each business can claim across properties occupied by the same business in Wales.

All eligible businesses will have to complete an online declaration form which will be available on the Council’s website by mid-March. This means the 2022/23 annual bills will be issued before this rate relief can be granted. However, the Business Rate Team will aim to process declaration forms submitted via our website as soon as possible so businesses receive amended bills as a matter of urgency.

The Team will email those business ratepayers who may be eligible once the online form is available.

If you have any queries, please email the Business Rates Team at nndr@caerphilly.gov.uk.

Important: Ratepayers should contact us directly regarding the above rate relief; you do not need to employ a rating agent to act on your behalf.
