Operation Santa is back
Staff from Creditsafe launched the 2017 Operation Santa appeal earlier this week.

The festive season is fast approaching, and with it is the return of Caerphilly County Borough Council’s annual Operation Santa appeal.
Operation Santa aims to provide Christmas gifts for over 600 local children. These children are not helped by any other appeal, and have been nominated by social workers who work with families across Caerphilly County Borough.
Kind hearted staff at Caerphilly-based business Creditsafe were the first to sign up to show their support for this year’s appeal. As long standing supporters of Operation Santa, the appeal was officially launched at their business headquarters earlier this week (Wednesday 1st November).
Rachel Mainwaring, UK Managing Director at Creditsafe, said: “Operation Santa is a cause close to many of our hearts with many of our staff being from, and living in, Caerphilly. As a major business in Caerphilly, we are thrilled and honoured to have had the opportunity to be part of this fantastic project for the previous 6 years.
“This year we will continue to make it our mission to collect as many gifts as possible to ensure underprivileged children get to open a present on Christmas morning. Christmas is such a special time and we are determined to make it as happy as we can.”
The Operation Santa pledge line opened on Wednesday 1st November and close on Thursday 30th November. Gifts then need to be delivered to one of the collection centres by Monday 4th December.
Collection centres are at:

  • Penallta House, Ystrad Mynach

  • Caerphilly Library

  • Apex Estate Agents, Bargoed

  • YMCA, Bargoed

  • Blackwood Miners’ Institute

  • Barclays Bank, Ystrad Mynach

  • Risca Family Centre, Brookland Road, Risca

  • Risca Palace Library

  • Pontlottyn Customer First Centre

Cabinet Member, Cllr Carl Cuss said, “Each year we are absolutely blown away by the amount of gifts people donate, and every year these gifts help spread a little festive cheer to local young people at Christmas. On behalf of Caerphilly County Borough Council, I would like to thank everyone who has supported the Operation Santa appeal in the past, and also thank local residents and businesses in advance for their support once again this year”.
To get involved in Operation Santa by pledging a gift, please email or call the pledge hotline on 01443 866 577 by Thursday 30th November.
