The following A-Z list should help you to decide which container to put you recycling and waste items in. If there is an item not listed here that you would like included in the A-Z list please contact us and we will update this page.

Aerosols
|
Empty deodorant cans can be placed in the recycling bin. Empty spray paint cans should be placed in the general waste bin

Asbestos
|
Householders (but not business contractors) can take to Full Moon, Penallta, Trehir and Aberbargoed Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC’s). Maximum amount of 6 bags or 6 sheets. Specialist contractors should be consulted.

Cans
|
Clean steel and aluminium cans/tins should be placed in the recycling bin
|
Cartons (Tetrapak)

Cardboard
|
Clean thin card (such as small cardboard boxes and cereal boxes) should be placed in the recycling bin.

Carrier bags
|
Re-use carrier bags for shopping trips. Some supermarkets also have carrier bag recycling schemes

CDs
|
Donate to charity
|
Christmas cards
|
Recycle paper based cards in your household recycling collection. Any embellishments such as ribbons or glitter cannot be recycled so should be removed first by simply tearing off that section. Batteries should also be removed from musical cards and disposed of.

Christmas trees
|
Household Waste Recycling Centre or cut up into manageable pieces and place out for garden waste collection
|
Clothes
|
Donate to charity shops or charity collection banks. Clothes in a poor condition can be made into dusters or disposed of at Household Waste Recycling Centres

Coat hangers
|
Some charity shops may accept coat hangers. Alternatively place in the general waste bin
|
Computers
|
Sell/donate or take to a Household Waste Recycling Centre
|
Cookers
|
Good condition electrical cookers will be accepted by the Furniture Revival. If it cannot be reused, arrange collection as a bulky waste item or take to a Household Waste Recycling Centre
|
Crisp packets
|

Crockery
|
Can be donated. Broken crockery should be wrapped and placed in the general waste bin

E
Egg boxes
|
Cardboard/plastic egg boxes can be placed in the recycling bin

Egg shells
|
Can be composted in your home compost bin or placed in the food waste caddy

Electrical items

Envelopes
|
Can be reused by sticking a piece of paper over the address. Can also be placed in the recycling bin

Fluorescent lighting tubes

Foil
|
Clean foil food trays, clean pie cases and clean kitchen foil can be placed in the recycling bin. Unclean foil should be placed in the general waste bin

Food
|
Place in the food waste caddy for collection.
Christmas - we’ll collect additional food waste but it must be in bio degradable bags and placed on top of your caddy.

Fridges/freezers
|
The Furniture Revival offer a collection service at a small cost

Furniture
|
Reusable items will be accepted by the Furniture Revival. If in a poor condition, arrange a bulky waste collection if the items are too large to take to the Household Waste Recycling Centre

Place grass cuttings and small shrubs in the garden waste bag for weekly kerbside collection

Please note: You can dispose of a wide range of materials at our household waste recycling centres using a car. We have a permit system in place if you wish to use a van or trailer. These sites are not available for commercial waste or building contractors.
